Does Your Company Celebrate Women’s History Month?
March 20, 2019
If your company celebrates Women’s History Month… GREAT! However, if it doesn’t, here are some ways you can suggest to get your company on board. Though the end of March is approaching, there is still time to celebrate the women at your workplace this month, and all year round.
Encourage your company to implement family-friendly and women-friendly policies
Celebrate women employees, their stories, and their contributions
You can also ask business associates and social media followers to share a story of special women in their life. These stories can be about women who shaped their life, helped advance their careers, who inspired them, or women they know who overcame adversity. Feature some of your favorite stories on your website, social media sites, or in a blog post.
Engage, uplift, and celebrate outside of the workplace
Host a fundraiser, donate, or volunteer for women’s charities and causes in your community. There are many opportunities to help uplift women in your community, for instance at a women’s domestic violence shelter. Whether you donate financially or with your time, be sure to promote these causes and encourage your clients to also donate or give their time.
Host an event honoring women employees or women’s panel. Invite your business associates and clients to an awards lunch or gathering, where you present an award to one or more inspirational woman in your organization. Or, host a discussion panel for your employees. Ask three or four women to briefly speak at the panel about their secrets for success and then answer questions.
Connect to a local women’s leadership conference. Choose a woman from work or community to attend and pay for their expenses. You can even ask staff or people in your community to nominate women who they think should go.
There are so many ways your business can celebrate Women’s History Month – all you need is a willingness to share and uplift the ways women have made a positive impact in your industry, the community and the world. This time of year is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the value women of the past, present, and future hold. Happy Women’s History Month from everyone at Pinnacle Prevention!
